Excel 6 Series Reach Mowers

The Excel 606 with 6m reach is the hedge cutting contractors favourite for its high street strength and extra power to match the demands of the ever reducing time scale available to maintain hedges between harvest and planting. The piston powered drive system maintains the correct rotor speed, even in the heaviest growths to give a clean cut and a fine finish to be proud of. The adjustable front guard encourages the machine to be used for both hedgecutting and grass mowing. While the Excel 606 and its 6.8m reach sister are normally 3 point linkage mounted on a suitable tractor, they can also be axle mounted. The operator receives special consideration with the 6 Series with mono lever proportional controls and parallel action arm fitted as standard and rotor control by electric switch.

The Excel 726T and the Excel835T have telescopic second arms to give a maximum sideways reach of 7.2m and 8.3m yet retain the ability to work in confined areas suited to 6.0m and 6.8m reach machines. Smooth hydraulic extension of the telescopic arm is achieved at the touch of a button on the control console. Construction equipment technology has been harnessed to provide rugged reliability and ease of maintenance. Long life nylon type bushes have a simple adjustment to maintain tolerances on the telescopic arm. The quick attach axle mounting system is recommended for both these models. These long reach versions of the robust 6 Series can be fitted with the optional Autopilot for bank mowing where the extra performance of the piston power delivers dividends.

Piston Power - Tractor matched to today's high horsepower tractors, the Spearhead 600 Series utilises an 84hp piston pump and motor system to give extra output with power in hand. Increased output in tough conditions is just one benefit of the new 600 series.

Ease Of Control - Long hours in the tractor become a pleasure with the Spearhead oil-over-oil hydraulic proportional control system with the mono lever controlling up to 3 services simultaneously. This system is widely used on industrial equipment where precision and reliability are paramount.

Ease Of Maintenance - All main hydraulic and electrical components are located on a horizontal surface for easy access and are enclosed by a robust steel cover to keep them free from contamination. Hydraulic pressure diagnostic points for both motor and arm circuits are provided to minimise down time when checks are required.

Spiralling Benefits - The smooth running Spearhead 28 station rotor shaft has the flail arranged in a double helix for clean cutting with rugged reliability. Four different types of flail can be fitted to the standard rotor shaft meet all requirements from fine grass mowing to cutting back hedges up to 100mm thick.

Cool Efficiency - Cool oil increases hydraulic drive efficiency and boosts output. A large capacity thermostatically controlled full flow oil cooler in conjunction with a specially designed 2651 oil reservoir, maintains optimum oil temperature, regardless of ambient conditions.

Impressive Power To Weight Ratio - Advanced computer aided design techniques were used to arrive at the optimum shape of the Spearhead arms to give the maximum strength with the minimum weight. All pivots have replaceable bushes for low running costs and extended durability.

Flexible Drive - The optional belt drive system will give optimum power, whatever the application. Pulleys can be interchanged to give a flail tip speed of over 10000 ft/min for clean hedgecutting or 8500 ft/min and extra torque for tough grass mowing. The triple "V" belts also cushion shock loads between the rotor shaft and the hydraulic motor.

Ground Control - The award winning Spearhead Autopilot automatically controls the cutting head on verges and embankments while the operator keeps both hands on the steering wheel for maximum safety and output. This option will reduce flail wear, increase output and bring new levels of convenience to operators.
