Flail Mower Range

Cut Costs With The Spearhead Flail Mower Range

Spearhead Standard flail mowers will give an enviable finish to parks and gardens, footpaths and football fields and paddocks and pastures. Wet or dry, long or short, the standard flail mower will mow cleanly in all of these conditions. Tractor matched to 25 to 75 hp power units, the Standard flail mowers are available in working widths of 1.5m, 1.8m and 2.1m. They can be front or rear mounted and can be offset to cut under low trees and over kerbs. The toughened steel chisel scoop flail revolves at 2200rpm on a dynamically balanced rotor shaft to give a clean cut and a thorough mulch. The cuttings are discharged back down into the sward where they rapidly decompose and return the nutrients to the plant roots for an improved appearance of the mown area. The large diameter adjustable steel roller not only accurately controls the cutting height but also gives a pleasing striped finish to the cut area.

The HD range will cut and mulch the heaviest growths and also leave a finish to be proud of. Brambles, gorse, bracken as well as prestige amenity areas are all within the scope of the versatile HD mowers. The capability of these mowers is matched only by their robustness. Available in working widths of 2m, 2.5m and 2.8m, the HD range has a model to suit those with tractors between 50 and 100 hp. Pull them or push them, these versatile mowers are available to work in line or offset. Their strength and rugged reliability make them the first choice for farmers and foresters, councils and contractors, landscapers and landowners. British designed and built for British conditions, the HD range offer exceptional value and lowest running costs.

Smooth Running Rotor Shaft - The large diameter rotor shaft has the flail mounting lugs arranged in a double spiral for smooth vibration free running. The flails have considerable overlap to ensure a clean cut even when mowing round tight turns. Reliability and low running costs are features of the Spearhead rotor system.

Special Clean Cutting Flails - Hard wearing carbon steel flails are free to pivot backwards should they strike an obstruction for low running costs and safety. With a tip speed of up to 57 metres per second, a clean cut and thorough mulch is guaranteed. The considerable up-draft raises laid crops for a clean cut and even spread of cut material.

Flexible Rotor Drive - A powerful belt drive system transmits the power to the rotor shaft with two SPB wedge belts on the Standard model and four on the HD version. The quiet running belt drive system absorbs shock loads and extends the durability and reliability of the drive system.

Gearbox Drive System - A special through drive gear box is fitted to allow front or rear mounting without the need to purchase special parts. The Standard flail mower utilises a 60 hp gearbox while the HD models are fitted with a powerful 85 hp system.

Front or Rear Mounting - The HD models can be equipped with a double headstock to enable the mower to be fitted to either a front or rear tractor linkage without the need to relocate anything other than the PTO shaft. This can increase the flexibility of mounting within a mixed tractor fleet.

Offsetting Hitches - All Spearhead mowers can be offset by up to 700mm to enable mowing to be carried out tight against fences, under overhanging bushes and over kerbs. The HD model has the option of finger tip control using the optional hydraulic offset.

Roller With Double Ball Bearings - The large diameter steel roller revolves on two heavy duty ball races with a large grease reservoir between them for maximum durability. The roller accurately controls the cutting height, gives a levelling and compacting effect and leaves an attractive striped effect.

Double Skin Construction - Durability and reliability of the main body is maintained by the double skin construction with reinforcement at key mounting points. Computer aided design techniques are utilised to give the optimum strength to weight balance and to ensure the rotor shaft mountings remain accurately positioned.
