Integral sideshift

Patented by Merlo, integral chassis sideshift permits lateral adjustment of the boom, for precise load placing. Unlike sideshift attachments, the integral Merlo design does not derate load capacity, or increase the effective width of the load. It can be used with any attachment fitted, at any stage in the operating cycle, and does not require the use of boom end hydraulics - leaving them free for attachments!

Frame Levelling

Frame levelling permits the chassis to be transversely levelled with respect to the ground. This means that lifting is then truly vertical, for maximum safety and capacity. On transverse slope it is essential to be correctly levelled before attempting to lift and, in conjunction with boom side-shift, frame levelling ensures the best handler use in all conditions.

Safety

Safety received the very  highest priority in the TURBOFARMER KT design:

• An overload warning system features both audible and visual warning signals and a key-selectable lockout mode blocks further overloading motion

• Automatic locking of the frame levelling system (where fitted) when boom elevation exceeds a preset safety angle

• All boom hydraulic cylinders are fitted with pilot-operated check valves

• 'Fail-safe' parking brake automatically locks when the engine is not running.

BOOM: The two telescopic sections (three on P 28.9 KT and P 30.9 KT) are of high yield steel, sliding on externally adjustable low friction pads. The extension mechanism and hydraulic pipes are mounted within the boom assembly, avoiding site damage and improving driver visibility.

Comfort

CAB: The high yield steel frame conforms to ROPS (ISO 3471) and FOPS (ISO 3449) standards. The K series cab is 995mm wide, the largest available. Opening front and rear windows are fitted with wash/wipe systems. The upper part of the two section door can be locked in the open position for increased ventilation. Air conditioning is available as an option. Instrumentation includes: tachometer/rev counter, hour meter, fuse box, fuel level, coolant temperature, annunciator warning panel showing blocked engine air filter, hydrostatic oil level and temperature, engine oil pressure, coolant temperature, parking brake warning light. Boom movements are controlled with a "4 in 1" joystick control.

COMPACTNESS: The TURBOFARMER KT concept features compactness together with an exceptionally low centre of gravity. The long wheelbase (the ratio between wheelbase and overall length is the largest in its class) of the TURBOFARMER KT, results in unequalled working stability and the added benefit of virtually eliminating pitching when travelling.

"LOAD-SENSING": The P 33.7 KT is equipped with a variable delivery axial piston pump. The "Load-Sensing" hydraulic system automatically regulates pump delivery to ensure most efficient use of engine power. Pump output is automatically adjusted to suit load conditions, ensuring fast but controllable movement, and reducing power requirements. The boom head hydraulic service lines (3/4" fittings) are thus able to supply sufficient oil to attachments with higher hydraulic power or flow requirement. The operating pressure is 230 bar with a maximum flow of 120 l/min. The pressure available at the top of the boom is 200 bar, the flow 100 lpm. Other TURBOFARMER models are equipped with a gear pump, with operating pressure of 210 bar and maximum flow of 91 lpm.

Engine

The engine is mounted longitudinally on the right hand side of the chassis (a Merlo patent), with an exclusive vibration-reducing mounting. Mounted in this fashion, the engine balances the weight of the cab increasing lateral stability, gives unbeatable driver visibility and ensures easy service access from ground level. Low emission direct injection 4 cylinder water cooled Perkins 1004-40T Turbo Diesel engine (97/68/CE), delivering 80.4 kW (109 HP) at 2400 rpm (ISO 3046/1). Anti-straw protection to oil and water radiators.

Transmission

The hydrostatic transmission ensures automatic and continuous speed regulation from standstill to maximum speed, simply by operating the accelerator pedal:

• At low engine speeds the torque output is double that of many conventional transmissions

• Powerful dynamic engine braking effect

• Stop and start on slopes up to 50% without brakes

• Electrically operated two-speed range gearbox

A genuine 'Inching Pedal' makes full use of lifting speed and power whilst precisely controlling forward speed. 'Finger-tip' control makes it possible to change between forward and reverse even when moving, with the driver keeping both hands safely on the steering wheel. Permanent four-wheel drive, with drop portal axles ensures class-beating ground clearance and rough terrain ability.

Steering

All four wheels are steered, with the operator being able to select one of three steering modes. Auto-synchronisation realigns the steering wheels should they become misaligned:

• Front wheel steer (for use on the road)

• Four wheel steer (for maximum manoeuvrability)

• Crab steer (for sideways motion without effecting the longitudinal alignment of the machine)

Special Equipment

CARRIAGE: The 'Tac-Lock' quick attachment fitting system is hydraulically controlled from the cab. Two boom end mounted hydraulic lines are provided, which can be combined as a single double acting service.

"RING OF STEEL": The periphery of the chassis is completed by a solid high yield steel bar, providing a "Ring of Steel" as protection to the engine and fuel reservoir, and further adding to the stability.

LIFTING EQUIPMENTS: TURBOFARMER KT models can be fitted with a variety of hooks, jibs and winches for lifting use.

ATTACHMENTS: A huge range of attachments is available to suit the TURBOFARMER KT for the farming role and ensuring maximum utilisation. Fully integrated work platforms comply with International Standards and provide a safe means of working height. Attachments requiring higher than normal oil flow are especially suited to the P 33.7 KT, featuring 100 lpm to the boom head services.
